BEST Robotics – Week 1

This year, the RoboChargers are excited to improve our skills through the BEST Robotics challenge. We’ll be competing at the Dallas BEST Hub event on November 7th. The challenge video is linked above, and the generic andgame specific rules are attached here for any curious readers.

We weren’t able to make the kickoff event on Saturday, so we did a team kickoff on Tuesday.

Juan walked us through a quick quiz on the BEST returnable and consumable kit of parts.

On Wednesday, we began analyzing the game to determine the maximum number of points that could be scored in a variety of ways. There are a lot materials! To score a large number of small pieces in a reasonable time, we started considering various scoop/bucket designs. Our prototyping will show us if this is a good idea, but it is a start.

We also got started on the field building. We don’t need it quite yet, but will need it for more advanced prototyping as well as driver practice.

We’re happy to be building robots again! We’ve been much busier than this blog shows, and we’ll hopefully be updating a lot more often now to document our build season for our BEST engineering notebook.
